Over 1,500 people watched the MOSES State Senate Candidate Forum in July. We anticipate that a similar number of people will view this virtual listening session.
The discussion will be centered around a new report by the ACLU and Human Rights Watch entitled Revoked that highlights how probation and parole feed the mass incarceration crisis. The event will begin with a short presentation about the key findings and recommendations of this study. A copy of this report is attached.
Then, directly impacted leaders and leaders of MOSES Task Forces will discuss the impact that this is having on communities in Madison and potential solutions. Issues that will be lifted up include crimeless revocations, treatment alternatives to incarceration, transitional jobs, earned early release, and compassionate release.
The event will conclude with a conversation between the candidates and directly impacted people.
